Summer and weddings in the rain

Written on Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 at 9:14 am

It’s been a busy summer with weddings and preparing for September recitals and lectures. From travelling all over the country playing in beautiful settings for stunning brides and nervous bridegrooms, life has definitely been busy. But there is feeling in Autumn in the air and September brings a new term in college, starting writing for […]

Hay Festival week

Written on Friday, June 8th, 2012 at 10:02 am

It’s been a great week which started last Friday performing at the Hay Festival with the RWCMD. It is the first year for the college to be linked with the Hay and I had the opportunity to play for the first concert with some great musicians (Tony Robinson on drums/congas, Mark Trounson on bass and […]

Back from South America with a love for Bossa

Written on Monday, April 30th, 2012 at 11:12 am

I have just returned from a fantastic trip to South America, visiting Machu Picchu, Buenos Aires and Rio. Three weeks of no playing, just listening and a new found love for bossa and tango.  Wedding season is just about to get in to full swing and I have some great concerts lined up. …A few […]

Christmas carols around the tree…

Written on Monday, January 2nd, 2012 at 4:14 pm

It has been such a lovely week, playing Christmas Carols at Celtic on Christmas Eve, joined by some gorgeous children. The favourite wasn’t Rudolph or Jingle Bells, but George Michael! It must be the X-factor! Christmas Day was spent playing all day and coming home to a lovely meal. Boxing day was the icing on […]

Iceland in the snow…

Written on Sunday, December 18th, 2011 at 12:26 pm

Last night I had the pleasure of playing for Iceland’s owner at his stunning home in Chester. It was a beautiful, intimate setting topped off with the face of Iceland herself, Stacey Soloman, singing her charity single “Driving home for Christmas”……perfect for the way home.

A busy few months…

Written on Sunday, December 18th, 2011 at 12:23 pm

At last, I can put the tree up and get out out my trusty old Harry Connick Christmas cds. The last three months have been a whirlwind with starting college and gigs.  My course is quite time consuming but really enjoyable. Last week we had to perform our arrangements of Christmas carols in Wales Millennium […]

Starting in college

Written on Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 at 10:58 am

It has been a crazy few weeks with starting a Masters in Jazz in the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.  Surrounded by great musicians and a great new building, life has taken a turn for new pastures and hopefully the start of a great experience. Watch this space!….

Lost Chord tour brings a smile or two..

Written on Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 at 10:56 am

Lost chord has expanded this year to 15 concerts each month. The scheme is wonderful and takes live music to old people’s homes around Cardiff. In September, Jo Thomas and I had the pleasure of playing to so many people, many of whom were suffering with dementia and alzheimers. There were some wonderful responses, many […]

Requests galore…the quirkier the better..

Written on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011 at 10:16 am

The last few weeks have been busy with weddings and the requests keep rolling in. So far, Usher, Eminem, Beach Boys, Guns n Roses are just a few which have made it on to the harp. Some things work better than others..but there isn’t much that I won’t try…It’s quite funny when (usually men!) walk […]

It’s a shame I can’t fit a harp on a Vespa..

Written on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011 at 10:11 am

Sunday was spent in hot leathers and a helmet training on a motorbike ready for college. I’m starting an MA in Jazz in a few weeks and thought it might be a good idea to moped my way to college. It’s quite strange not to be surrounded by 4 wheels and lots of metal, with […]
